  • Toothache

  • Dental Trauma

  • Fractured Teeth

  • Dental Swelling

Fractured Tooth Treatments At Slievemore Dental

  • Fractured Cusp

This type of crack is characterised by a large fracture affecting the tooth's cusp or top point. Treatment may involve a filling, onlay or crown to protect the remaining tooth.

  • Split Tooth

This is a more severe form of a cracked tooth. The split typically runs through the tooth, affecting both sides. This type of crack requires professional treatment, such as root canal therapy or extraction.

  • Vertical Root Fracture

This crack is located underneath the gum line and extends down the tooth's root. It is usually caused by trauma or repeated dental procedures. Treatment in this case will usually involve extraction.

FAQs on Common Dental Emergencies

  • Call our clinic and explain your symptoms. We aim to provide same day care. While you wait, you can take over-the-counter pain medications.

  • Broken teeth present many problems. If it’s a small break we may use a small white filling to restore your tooth. If the break is more serious we may need to do a root canal treatment and/or crown.

  • If the knocked out tooth is an adult (or permanent) tooth, you must act quickly. The longer the tooth is kept out of its position the less likely it is to survive.

In the meantime, you can place the tooth in milk or in the side of your cheek and bring it to your nearest dentist as soon as possible.

  • Put a piece of softened sugarless chewing gum in the spot where the filling was lost. This will protect the area for a short period of time. Call us and we will arrange to see you as soon as possible.
