Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?
Most adults who are missing one or more teeth can have implants. The main things we look at are:
- Healthy gums – any gum disease is treated first, often with our hygiene team.
- Enough bone to hold the implant – if bone has been lost, bone grafting, sinus lifts or osseodensification can often rebuild or preserve it.
- Your general health – conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, and smoking, can slow healing, so we’ll talk these through honestly.
Been told you don’t have enough bone? For patients with significant bone loss, we offer pterygoid and zygomatic implants, which anchor in denser bone further back in the jaw and cheekbone and can often avoid the need for major grafting.
Looking After Your Implants
Implants can’t decay, but the gums around them still need care. Brush twice a day, clean between your teeth and implants with interdental brushes or a water flosser, and keep up regular check-ups and hygiene visits. With good care – and your yearly maintenance appointment – implants can last for many years.
